Eric opened a certified organic farm at his home in Los Angeles about 10 years ago. He is currently going after a regenerative certification. Spectrum news called his property “the smallest farm in California.” Eric spent nearly a decade selling microgreens and spending thousands of hours in trial and error to generate the most nutrient dense, fresh, tasty sprouts on the market! He sold at several local farmer’s markets, grocery stores, caterers, restaurants.

He is currently serving on the board of advisors at Cal State Northridge, office of Sustainability, where he leads workshops on homemade fertilizer (from scratch), growing tomatoes like a tree, vermicomposting and growing sprouts and microgreens! 10% of the cal state cohort of students is experiencing homelessness so this info can be a game changer for some! Eric has always had a difficult time swallowing his vitamin supplements, you can literally here him gagging from down the street! He also loves chowing down on a delicious sprout salad, so why not replace the pills with something enjoyable?

PHILOSOPHY

Eric beleieves sustainable living vitamins are the future (for some!) They are more bioavailable and tasty to consume. Add some beauty to your diet in a very simplistic manner. He also believes that it is important to give back to the community. He works with various 501c3s in developing gardens on their campus. It’s all connected! Before Eric started farming he was pre-diabetic, an alcoholic, smoking 2 packs a day, deeply depressed/anxious/OCD. He was at USC business school, but he was miserable. He became obsessed with growing clean food when they had their first daughter, Rian Anela. Growing food nourished his soul, taught him how to sprout paths towards happiness and health. He leared how important community can be, after years of being a hermit of sorts. Our food system should not reflect a caste system. Everyone (especially kids) deserve the rights to clean food on a regular basis….from farms opr grown by themselves rather than from 99 cent stores. Sprouts and microgreens offers a solution. They can be grown indoors, without synthetic light, minimal water, 0 soil, and offers far greater amounts of nutrients per serving. Sometimes the answer is simple yet complex in this paradox of food security, food waste and sustainability.
